Help us raise money for displaced women and girls and double your money this week

From noon today 8 October until noon next Weds 15 October, Joliba is part of a Big Give campaign for women and girls. We are raising money for displaced women and girls in Central Mali who are in critical need. During this week, all donations will be doubled!

Mali is suffering from increasing destabilisation which does not hit the headlines.  In 2018-20 many people were displaced from our project area when their villages were attacked and burned and they have been living in refugee camps ever since. 

“Our village was attacked in 2018 and we came to the camp for safety. The help we were given provided food for 6 months. Now our children have to go to beg and we grown-ups walk 15kms a day to look for domestic work but we earn very little. We only eat one meal a day.” - Hawa Bolly

We want to raise £20,000 which will go towards helping 250 women and girls to set up small enterprises, regain economic independence and start their lives again.  Many of them have skills in livestock-raising and market activities and are very capable of making a living for themselves but they have no resources.  The money raised will provide enterprise funds to the women as well as advice, follow up and vocational training where needed.

This will allow the women to provide for their families, integrate in host communities and to return home where this is possible.
