A growing success - market gardening

Last year we supported the women’s groups of N’Gorosso and N’Gorola in Yorosso, South Mali, to establish two 4-acre market gardens. The women were trained in the propagation of vegetable seeds, rapid compost-making and the preparation of organic pesticides using naturally occurring neem oil. The women are growing lettuces, onions, tomatoes, peppers, celery, mint and aubergines. These two gardens brought in a healthy £10,500 income in their first year.

We have exceeded our Big Give target!

Thanks to the generosity of our donors we have exceeded our target and raised over £45,000. This money will be a huge investment for young people in Mali – enabling them to set up their own orchards.
